Have you ever felt like you couldn't answer the question: "What do you want?"? The context of the question doesn't even have to be huge…not a life changing question like "What do you want to do with your life?", but something as simple as "What do you want for dinner?", "What do you want to do today?"

Prioritizing our needs and wants is something we each have to do on a daily basis. When we are disconnected with our core value, even the simplest questions about our wants or needs may be difficult to answer. Our core value is our essence. It is our birthright - it is who we are! If we aren't connected with who we are, we are more likely to be swayed by other's needs and wants, and ignore our own. Consistently ignoring who we are and our most fundamental needs to stay true to who we are will lead to resentment. Whether we realize it or not, we will begin to live with an undercurrent of resentment that will manifest itself through all of our life relationships.

Once this undercurrent of resentment is there, even simple things can set you off. You can become angry when someone leaves their shoes in the middle of the room, or when someone cuts you off on the road. All feelings of anger, whether they are small (like feelings of frustration or chilliness), or large (an explosion of rage), are signs that your core value is too low and you need to reconnect to it.

When you reconnect to your core value, you'll find that you can appreciate and value more. You can go through life without letting others "push your buttons". This is how you can empower yourself to act in your best interests and the best interests of loved ones.

CORE Value, Inc. provides personal and corporate training about reconnecting with core value and learning emotional regulation, empowering you in both your work and home life to live without anger and resentment and with a strong sense of self.

If you'd like to read about these topics before doing further work by taking a seminar or doing personal coaching, we recommend reading one of the following great books by Dr. Steven Stosny (click on the title to go to Amazon for additional information):
